Dr Lance Forbat BSc, MD, FRCP

Dr Forbat qualified from St. Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, University of London gaining a BSc Physiology with 1st Class Honours 1977 and MBBS 1980. He completed his post-graduate training in cardiology at Groby Road (Glenfield) Hospital, Leicester and returned to St. Thomas' as a British Heart Foundation Junior Research Fellow in 1987.  He was awarded his MD in 1994.


 He was appointed as Consultant Cardiologist at West Cumberland Hospital and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist South Cleveland in 1995. He was the first interventionally trained cardiologist in Cumbria and pioneered a North Cumbrian mobile ECHO service to study patients in the community with suspected diagnosis of heart failure. He has brought new services to several other units and led three departments, the most recent being a Stress Echo service to the Vale of Leven Hospital in Glasgow.

Dr Forbat has experience in managing all aspects of adult cardiology including angina, heart failure, arrhythmias and pacing. In addition to telemedicine, he aims to bring innovative cardiology services using new technologies, offering true "patient choice".
